Louise sent through an update:
“So far, so good. Tricia only managed 1 cut finger”
Pete : “Sh!t – she hasn’t even left port yet…”
.. boat was not cleaned, so Tricia and all the crew have spent the last few days cleaning the boat, finding somewhere to stow all the extra cluttering of random stuff, provisioning .. oh – and getting the hole in one of the sails repaired before they set off…
..message from today (2nd April) :
Sorry, I have had no time to do anything.
Sailing tomorrow to Aquila and will spend 2 days there so will have some down time.
Won’t get there till evening though. My 20 mins by the pool today was the first relaxation I’ve had.
Am exhausted!
At last a chance to update. The boat required a lot of work – mechanical issues, cleaning, stowing crap, provisioning etc and this took two days. Three of us did two trips to the supermarket and had 2-3 trolleys each trip. Didn’t get to see any of St Maarten except for the Marina and immediate surrounds, the road to the supermarket and the supermarket! I was surprised at the traffic for a small island – almost as bad as Auckland.
