Went through a small storm last night. Autopilot broke, boat crash-gybed. Sailing on storm gib for a while.
Out of storm now and back on track with 2 sails up. Wind behind us now so more comfortable. Weather settled a bit after a wild night
Whale photo update – if you zoom in – that’s the only photo out of 7 of us! It was flapping its tail towards us which may have been an indication of a calf close by. Possibly a right whale.
9.45 Bermuda time now.
..and an update from later in the day:
12 hours without autopilot with the technical members of the crew working on it. Only one wheel was working as the autopilot is attached to one of the wheels.
Problem now fixed which makes it easier – having to steer all the way to Azores was a daunting prospect but I guess that’s what they used to do.
I brought out the Donovan’s hokey pokey chocolates and after one was sacrificed for Neptune, the crew polished them off.
